This weekend I read and am now sharing the review of a book that feels like it was made just for me By Karen Mom of Three This weekend I read and am now sharing the review of a book that feels like it was made just for me, this book spoke to me. My cousin asked me if I had always been " A little left of center" and I thought that was the best expression, yes I feel like I have always been a bit different, or left of center in my thinking about pretty much everything and this holistic bath bible is truly delightful. It is one that teaches you about culture, about the use of essential oils, salts and crystals. It also talks about paring baths with teas, which is why I think this is such a great book. I have at least two people in mind to order this book for as a gift. The Book of Sacred Baths was truly inspiring, this past weekend I spent quite a bit of time on self care. With a bit of investment in a few essential bathroom items, you can turn your bathroom into an amazing retreat and greatly improve your own life and the life of a loved one! This book would make a wonderful wedding shower gift and for at least two of my friends a great Holiday gift too! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Treat For The Senses! By NYC Pschotherapist I came to Dr. Sherman's book as an agnostic because I'm not a believer in the Divine, in a Higher Power. However I was extremely glad to have taken the journey. Dr. Sherman doesn't push. She doesn't insist. She doesn't clobber you with her ideas. Rather, she leads you into a gentle embrace and lovingly stays with you as she introduces you to her ideas. I learned much from this book--customs and traditions from other cultures, properties of herbs and flowers, ways to connect with other people, a possible pleasure--baths but, most importantly, because Dr. Sherman is a psychologist, she teaches many truths about mental health, relationships and methods of making the most of your living and loving. I definitely recommend this very well written book. It's a treat for the senses! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. and recommended accompaniments. This is food for the mind By Amazon Customer Paulette has poured her theoretical and practical knowledge into a new book titled The Book of Sacred Baths. It contains 52 bath rituals - that’s one for every week of the year - and I immersed myself into some of them to uncover the mysteries of sacred bathing.Paulette shares the history and context behind her visionary bathing book in the opening chapter, before diving into her 52 recipes. In some ways this book takes the form a cookbook but for baths: there are ingredients, serving suggestions, and recommended accompaniments. This is food for the mind, body and soul - and the best part is you don’t need to know how to cook.If you’re like me, you may not already have all of the necessary ingredients required (oils, candles, crystals), but you can make-do with what you do have. As with any other spiritual practice, such as meditation or yoga, the most important thing to have is an open mind. You may not have realised, but if you’ve ever taken a bath then you’ve already participated in a bath ritual. Sacred Baths aims to maximise the psychological benefits of each soak. The reader is instructed to “identify (their) emotional state before and after (their) bath ritual. See if it has shifted.”I have to confess, I am not a very spiritual person, but I still found there were countless valuable insights to take away from this book. For many of us, myself included, bathing is often seen as an escape, but Sacred Baths teaches that it can also be about reconnecting. I took great pleasure in Paulette’s recipe for the Bath of Self-care, which includes jasmine, rose and lavender oils. The focus here is on boosting your own self-worth, which is something I often neglect. As Paulette explains, “when we treat ourselves really well, what we feel that we deserve increases.”Other baths focus on health, career and the love life - which can make for a very cheap date night if you have a partner you want to connect with more. Your bath is your opportunity to create your own sacred space in which you can really focus on you: your emotions, your relationships, your aspirations. If you’re interested in discovering what new experiences these bath rituals can create for you, invest in a copy of Sacred Baths. See all 18 customer reviews...
