George Orwell's Monster World With Nastiest Additions By Jonathan Finch HISTORY’S PRISONERS: INVASION: BOOK ONEChunky reading to say the least! and the title says it all – a novel of imprisonment, invasion and consequently violence and loss. I felt as though I was involved in a science-fiction film from the word go where the smash and the blow are everywhere. There are, of course, people still trying to maintain the semblance of being normal, human, caring and loving but everyone and everything is under threat and the enemies are formidable and fantastic. How can you fight against robots, drones, psychological methods that infiltrate the mind unseen? The pace for me was a trifle slow (or too intricate) and I did find myself getting bogged down following all the ins and outs of the writer’s boundlessly inventive dystopia but the writing is excellent, and care and attention have paid off in that the book seems without typo.I did find myself asking why all, and that really is ALL, writers about the future who use the genre science fiction inevitably paint the gloomiest and more often than not the goriest scenario. Are we really heading towards that monstrous dawn? I for one hope not! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A Good, Solid Read. Enjoyable! By Rea I don't read a lot of dystopian, post-apocalyptic fiction, but when I do, I am always amazed at the creativity of the authors as they create their own, brave, new worlds, from the ashes of out civilization. Garmisch's book, History's Prisoners is no exception. It was a very enjoyable read and an interesting story. The main characters; Huan, Doon and Reanna were compelling and I particularly liked the thoughtful, philosophical notes that Garmisch wove into the character's stories regarding the nature of utopia and slavery, versus anarchy, free-will and freedom. The Alliance is crumbling and war is coming. I will have to look out for the next book in the series to see what that means for these characters.A good, solid, straight-forward story for one to get lost in. Good job! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The author did a great job portraying characters By Bookcollecter We are lead to believe what the powers that be want us to believe. Instead of moving forward, evolving, stretching our knowledge, we are brainwashed by politicians and establishment. This is how I saw this story, and unfortunately, how I see this world of ours developing. The author did a great job portraying characters, story, and a view of a future world using today's unfortunate trends. This book appealed to me, but it also frightened me a little because the future depicted may almost be here.Good characters, great insight, intelligent writing.I'm looking forward to more in this series.
